WARSAW The bats came to life for visiting Zanesville, which pounded out 12 hits to earn its first road win of the season by a 7-5 count against River View in East Central Ohio League baseball.

Braxton Snyder went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and a RBI from the leadoff spot, while Zak Parmer was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs at cleanup and Caden Mumaw and Josh Clark both had two hits and a RBI for the Blue Devils (7-12, 6-5).

Colton Curry was the winning pitcher in relief. He allowed three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and no walks, while Mumaw started and allowed two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks in three innings.

Jorn Hocter and Bryar Cox each had two hits, Jonathan Helmick and Trevor Wine added a double and two RBIs apiece and Josh Bigrigg took the loss, allowing seven runs, five earned, on 12 hits with six strikeouts, four walks and a hit batter in six-plus innings.

The Blue Devils went up 7-5 in the sixth as Parmer hit a RBI single to score Snyder and Mumaw scored on an error, while Curry fanned four straight during his final two innings of work to seal the win.

Zanesville trailed 2-1 after the first. The Blue Devils went up 3-2 on Clark’s RBI single and Parmer’s RBI double in the third and made it 5-2 after Snyder and Mumaw hit back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth.

Wine hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth and a Bigrigg sac fly in the fifth tied it at 5 for the Black Bears (12-7, 8-3).
