Name: Breon Johnson
School: Northeast College Prep.
Family: Mother, Tara Johnson; brother, Braden Johnson, 19.
Academics: 3.10 GPA this year.
Last week: Scored eight points a game during a 2-1 week for Northeast College Prep. That’s under his season average, but he certainly has helped the Panthers to a 8-3 start.
“He has taken on the role of being a true leader,” College Prep coach Kyle Crandall said. “But he’s more than just a captain, I view him as an extension of our coaching staff on the floor. The players respect him, and listen to him.
“The most important thing about Breon is that his offensive stats may not be up there with the best in the area, but what he (also) brings to the table is intensity. He’s our beat defensive player, and countless times this year he has shutdown the other team’s top players.”
About me: Averages 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals for College Prep, which advanced to last season’s Class A2 sectionals. … Listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. … Played running back, receiver and linebacker for the first-year Leadership Academy varsity football team. … Ran with track team at Franklin as a sophomore and plans to return to the sport this spring. … Undecided on plans for college. May enroll at The College at Brockport or a prep school and play football or basketball. … “I’d rather be a coach, teach people how to play the game.”
