Ishmael Chisholm scored a career-high 31 points, and his Presidents needed them all.
Franklin D. Roosevelt High School tipped the hometown Wallkill Panthers, 73-69, as the visitors from Hyde Park improved to 7-2 this season.
“We gutted it out down the stretch,” Roosevelt head coach Kevin Hart said. “It was a tough road win and we played sloppy, but we gutted it our and I’m proud of the way we hung in there.”
Hart said Chisholm stepped up when the Presidents needed him the most.
“He’s our leader and the go-to kid,” Hart said of Chisholm, who scored 17 of his points in the first half. “He’s a talented basketball player.”
Aubrey Albertson and Chris Roach had nine points each for Roosevelt, who host Highland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Webutuck 35, Pine Plains 27 – LeShawn Thrasher led the host Warriors with 12 points.
Hunter Coulthard added nine points for Webutuck (4-7)
Henry Roemer paced Pine Plains with 11 points.
Spackenkill 76, Onteora 57 – Justin Etts had 29 points, four rebounds and three assists as the visiting Spartans won in Boiceville.
Onteora, which led 33-31 at halftime, utilized a box-and-one defense against Etts.
Alex Strom had 16 points. Joe Mills and Camron Abalos had seven points and five rebounds apiece for the Spartans (5-2 overall, 4-0 MHAL Division 3).
“We played a very sloppy first half,” Spackenkill head coach Tom Bell said. “In the second half, we had a little more patience with our offense. Alex Strom had 10 of his 16 points in the second half, and Joe Mills had all seven of his points in the third quarter. Etts just continues to do what he does. (Onteora played a) box-and-one (defense), and he still dropped 29. He’s a heck of a player.”
Spackenkill visits Webutuck at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Rhinebeck 55, Millbrook 41 – Jack Spencer scored 20 points and Eric Rodriguez added 16, as their Hawks won on the road.
Mike DoCarmo’s 12 points led the Blazers, who also received nine points from Colin Wohlford.
Millbrook travels to Highland on Thursday.
Coleman 59, Dover 41 – Owen Vincent had 11 points, but the visiting Dragons (5-4) fell to the Statesmen in West Hurley.
Dover hosts Ellenville at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Red Hook 54, Rondout Valley 19 – The hometown Raiders opened the game on a 14-1 run late Thursday and never looked back, winning the Mid-Hudson Athletic League game.
Nick Michitsch, Dennis Hare and Tim Terry each scored nine points.
Haldane 73, North Salem 46 – Peter Hoffmann scored his 1,000th career point on the first play of Thursday’s game with a slam dunk. He finished with 21 points to lead the host Blue Devils.
Hoffmann was backed by Edmund Fitzgerald, Will Zuvic and Garrett Quigley, who each scored 10 points.
