Sanjay Ruparelia scored a game-high 23 points as the Poughkeepsie High School boys basketball team came from behind to beat host New Paltz 65-52 on Tuesday.
Caval Haylett added 11 points for Poughkeepsie and Jovan Atkinson contributed 10. Poughkeepsie is 9-6.
Poughkeepsie faced an 11-point deficit in the third quarter and came back.
“I thought our defense in the third quarter was excellent. We only gave up four points in the third quarter,” Poughkeepsie coach Brian Laffin said. “Sanjay actually came off the bench for us today and had a great second half. Moving forward though, we’ve got to become a lot more consistent over 32 minutes.”
For New Paltz, C.J. Burke had a team-high 17 points. Grant Harlow added 11 points and Mike Krebs chipped in 10.
Poughkeepsie visits Wallkill at 6 p.m. Friday. New Paltz hosts Rondout Valley at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Dover 51, Webutuck 26 – Jeff Haegler had 11 points and Owen Vincent added 10 as the visiting Dragons beat the Warriors in Mid-Hudson Athletic League play.
Dover improved to 7-7.
Andrew Thrasher and Hunter Coulthard had seven points apiece for Webutuck (5-12), which visits Ellenville at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Saugerties 41, Highland 34 – Cory Garcia scored 14 points for the host Huskies (11-5). Teammate John Murphy added 11.
Highland hosts Wallkill at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Onteora 68, Pine Plains 55 – Henry Roemer scored a career-high 33 points, but the host Bombers lost to the Indians.
Rondout Valley 59, Millbrook 52 — Mike DoCarmo had a team-high 28 points as the visiting Blazers fell.
