Franklin D. Roosevelt High School basketball coach Kevin Hart said he was proud of his team, despite its 68-66 loss to visiting Saugerties.
The victory clinched the Mid-Hudson Athletic League Division I title for Saugerties.
“It was one of those losses where you walk out, feeling pretty good about yourselves,” Hart said. “I was just really proud of the guys and how hungry they were. They came out with a great deal of intensity after a lackluster performance Tuesday (in a loss) against Red Hook.”
Ishmael Chisholm led the Presidents (9-7) with a game-high 23 points. Tyler Myers chipped in 17. Paton Gibbs (18) and Darnell Edge (17) led Saugerties.
“There are a lot of positives moving forward from this game,” Hart said. “We really got beat up the other night and to battle back against a really talented Saugerties team showed grit and desire. The postseason should be fun.”
