Boys high school roundup: George helps spark Wetumpka Indians


Antonio George scored 19 points to lead Wetumpka in a 45-23 victory over Stanhope Elmore on Friday.

Courtland Holloway added 10 points for the Indians (9-5), who are 2-0 in Class 6A, Area 4.

Wetumpka, which has three wins over the Mustangs this year, hosts Jeff Davis on Tuesday and the Mustangs (1-8, 0-5) host Autaugaville today.

Brandon Austin’s 13 points and Carleton Williams’ 12 led the Wolverines (15-3, 3-0 Class 6A, Area 4), who visit Enterprise on Tuesday. Julian Alexander scored 14 points for the Thunderbirds (11-8, 2-2), who host Lanett on Monday.

Brewbaker Tech 68, Greenville 64

Austin Rogers had 18 points and Desmond Williams 16 to lead the Rams (9-11). Robert Lewis posted 11 points and 12 rebounds. Javarrius Cheatham and Raheem Moore scored 15 points each and Zac Smith added 12 for the Tigers (12-5). Brew Tech hosts Alabama Christian on Tuesday. Greenville hosts Luverne today.

Keondre Davis had nine points and James Foster finished with seven assists for the Poets (10-9, 2-1 Class 5A, Area 4), who host Selma on Tuesday. David Poole’s 19 points led the Eagles (4-7).

St. James 67, Catholic 50

Jaylen McCoy had 25 points and Jalen Harris 12 for the Trojans (13-5, 4-1 Class 4A, Area 2), who bounced back from Tuesday’s one-point home loss to Bullock County.

Jacob Winston scored 11 points and Reggie Gee 10 for the Knights (12-4, 2-2). Today, St. James plays at Prattville Christian and Catholic goes to Montgomery Academy.

Montgomery Academy 73, Trinity 46

Josh Thomas had 28 points and Pete Taylor 16 to lead the Eagles (7-5). Barton Lester added 10. Noble Clark led the Wildcats (5-11) with 17 points and Luke Huffham 10. Trinity travels to Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday.

Ronnie Ezell scored 12 points for the Lions (11-11), who host Northside Methodist on Tuesday. Will Dowe and Lou Rutland had six points each for the Knights, who host Eastwood on Tuesday.

Mason English led Eastwood (5-10) with 13 points. Noah Verble added 10 points and Thomas Dismukes had 12 rebounds. Eastwood travels to Macon-East on Tuesday.
