The Shaler Area Boys’ Lacrosse team was defeated this past Monday, losing to Fox Chapel 17-10. The team’s record now currently stands as 4-3 following Monday’s game. Despite the loss, the team will not let it affect them going forward. However, the Titans admit that they need to be more consistent with their play going forward.

“Up to this point it had kind of been a roller coaster. We have had games we have played really well in then we have games where we lost touch with how we normally should play,” junior captain Jared Panza said.

Junior captain Jimmy Schlieper agreed that this year could be described as a “roller coaster” as well.

“We are either on our game or we are off by a little bit, but we have been way more consistent than from previous years,” Schlieper said.

Panza said the loss to Fox Chapel was mainly caused by some errors in their play that added up over the course of the game.

“As a team we played pretty hard, but it was just dumb mistakes that killed us that we could have avoided. We forced passes. We didn’t run the offense well. We didn’t run the defense well. We need to fix the mistakes that should have been fixed earlier,” he said.

Schlieper agreed that the team had a fair share of errors, and by the time the team fixed some of their mistakes, the game was too close to the end.

“We started out great. We were clicking on all cylinders, but we just kind of got into a slump that we couldn’t get out of, and by the time we did, it was too late,” Schlieper said.

Schlieper said he expected a better outcome to Monday’s game.

“I definitely wanted more. We had a chance where we could have proved ourselves to all the other teams out there that are our competitors,” Schlieper said.

The Titans are scheduled to play next Tuesday against Knoch, followed by Baldwin next Thursday. Both games are away.
