Boys roundup: Stewarts Creek upsets Wolverines



Stewarts Creek opened District 7-AAA play with a 65-62 upset of La Vergne on Tuesday night in boys basketball.

Tyler Conley led Stewarts Creek with 19 points. He was 8-of-8 at the foul line in the fourth quarter and 11-of-12 for the game.

Stewarts Creek (2-5, 1-0) was 17-of-23 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Brayden Jackson had 13 points for the Red Hawks. Teammates Desmond Sales and T.J. York added 11 points each.

Stewarts Creek returns to action Friday at Riverdale.

Smith Co. 59, Central Magnet 50: Jordan Burchfield scored 15 points with two 3-pointers to pace the Tigers (4-2, 1-1 in 8-AA). Cameron McGowen hit two 3-pointers and finished with nine points. Matt Murray added eight points.

MTCS 56, Forrest 54 OT: Barr Ellenburg scored seven of his game-high 25 points in overtime to lead MTCS (4-3, 2-0 in 9-A).

Kavan Hill added 10 points. Nate Howell tallied nine points.

MTCS returns to action Friday at Cascade.

Junior Varsity

Smith Co. 30, Central Magnet 29: Jordan Burchfield and Michael Polly led Central Magnet (3-2) with six points apiece.
