The Michigan High School Athletic Association State Tournament for boys’ soccer officially kicks off today, and one city team will be in action.
The Calhoun Christian/St. Philip co-op squad will visit Quincy in a Division 4 district opener, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Bellevue will also travel to face district host Kalamazoo Christian, while No. 8-ranked Kalamazoo Hackett will visit Maple Valley in games that kick off at 5 p.m.
Also today, Delton Kellogg will look to make a run in Division 3, starting with a matchup at host Comstock beginning at 6 p.m.
Most local teams will begin postseason play on Tuesday, including Lakeview as the Spartans visit district host Portage Northern in Division 1.
In the Division 2 district hosted by Marshall on Tuesday, 10th-ranked Coldwater will host Charlotte, Battle Creek Central will host Eaton Rapids and Harper Creek will host Pennfield. The host Redhawks received a bye and will take on the winner of Harper Creek/Pennfield in Thursday’s district finals.
