Port Chester’s Carlos Pineda and Byram Hills’ Ryan Starker during the Byram Hills vs. Port Chester boys soccer game in Armonk, Sept. 4, 2015. Byram Hills beat Port Chester 1-0.

1. Arlington (6-0) — A 2-0 win over former No. 2 in Class AA Scarsdale further established the Admirals as the team to beat. They’ve allowed one goal through six games, and none in five games against Section 1 opponents. Previous ranking: 1

2. Byram Hills (6-0) — Former U.S. Academy player Jack Beer has had a goal or an assist in every game so far for the Bobcats, who continue to have their way with opponents. It doesn’t hurt to have excellent leadership, which coach Matty Allen eloquently detailed in his column this week. PR: 2

3. Ketcham (6-1) — A loss outside of Section 1 notwithstanding, the Indians are looking like the top threat to Arlington in Class AA. Upcoming games against John Jay-East Fishkill and Arlington will be telling. PR: 4

4. Port Chester (5-2) — Since an unexpected loss to Fox Lane two weeks ago, the Rams have been rolling. Wins over Mamaroneck, Rye and Eastchester put PC back on track and back into the Class AA title picture. PR: 5

5. Pearl River (7-1) — There’s little doubt which team poses the biggest threat to Byram Hills in Class A. The Pirates’ 1-0 win over league rival Tappan Zee on Thursday firmly established them as the best team in Rockland County. PR: 6

6. Mamaroneck (5-1-1) — A loss to Port Chester last week stung, but Thursday’s overtime win against league rival Scarsdale certainly eased the pain. The Tigers are young, but improving. PR: 7

7. Scarsdale (6-2-1) — After a red-hot start to the season with five straight wins, the Raiders have come back down to earth. They’ve only won one of their last four games, but have a chance to get back on track with a favorable schedule this week. PR: 3

8. Horace Greeley (5-2) — The Quakers got off to a sluggish start with losses in two of their first three games, but they’ve now won four straight. We’re starting to see why they were a trendy preseason pick in Class AA. PR: Not ranked

9. John Jay-East Fishkill (5-1-1) — The Patriots have yet to beat a ranked opponent, but they’ll have their opportunity this week. They’ll host top-ranked Arlington on Monday and No. 3 Ketcham on Thursday. PR: NR

10. Bronxville (7-1) — Since a tough loss against Valhalla, the Broncos have rattled off three straight wins. They’re scoring at a high rate with an average of three goals per game. PR: NR
