1. Freehold Township (1-0-1)
The Patriots remain undefeated this season but have only found the back of the net once in two games. Granted, the 0-0 draw was against a talented St. Joseph (Metuchen) team, but they will have to do more in the offensive third with a big Shore Conference Class A North game against No. 2 CBA approaching on Thursday.
2. CBA (1-1)
The loss from the Colts was an out of conference game against a high quality Peddie team 1-0. They responded with eight goals against Middletown North, but will have a tougher time cracking the Freehold Township back line on Thursday. Expect the Colt Crazies to be in full force during the match up with the No. 1 team in the Shore.
3. Shore (2-0)
After an early statement 6-0 win over Midd. South, the Blue Devils conceded two against Point Beach in a 3-2 victory. The back line of the Blue Devils was an early concern for head coach Christian Pontier after losing several defenders to graduation. No doubt they will be tested with a nondivisonal game against No. 4 Ocean scheduled for this Saturday.
4. Ocean (2-0)
The Spartans will have a chance to climb the poll this week depending on the Freehold Township vs CBA result, and what they are able to do at No. 3 Shore on Saturday. If the start of their season is any indication, they could find themselves at the No. 2 spot next Monday.
5. Manalapan (1-0)
A combination of early losses from Jackson Memorial and Toms River South and the result against Howell has the Braves up to the No. 5 spot. Mainly because Howell was able to defeated Freehold in another Shore Conference Class A North game. If they can pick up wins against Marlboro and Midd. South, the Braves could slide into second place in the division prior to a meeting with Freehold Township on September 21st.
6. Toms River North (1-1)
The Mariners fell in out of Conference play to Kearny, but responded with a 3-0 win over Lacey. If they can get results against Brick Memorial and Toms River East this week, the Mariners will be in the driver seat of the Shore Conference Class A South division.
7. Rumson-FH (4-0)
The Bulldogs seem to have a flair for the dramatic, showcasing an overtime victory over Long Branch, and two other wins by just one goal. Wins over St. John Vianney and Holmdel this week will put them at the top of Class A Central.
8. Howell (1-1)
Picking up a win against a Freehold team that defeated Jackson Memorial in the season opener has the Rebels at the No. 8 spot. Also a good sign staying close with Manalapan, falling just 1-0 last week.
9. Wall (2-0)
The Crimson Knights jump a spot from the preseason poll after a divisional win over Colts Neck. Head coach Gary Linstra and his crew always seem to be in the running towards the end of the season, the first week of play is a good sign for Wall faithful.
10. Point Boro (2-0)
The Panthers have jumped out to a good start after a 3-0 result against North Brunswick and a 3-1 Shore Conference Class B South win over Barnegat. Divisional games against Central, Pinelands, and Lakewood await the Panthers this week.
