Members who had a lesson booked with Brian Gaffney this weekend need to call the pro shop.

The head pro at Quaker Ridge got a fair amount of screen time during the TNT broadcast and shot a 1-over 73 in the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday at Whistling Straits. He got in with an even-par total of 144 and was tied for 52nd when an evening storm rolled in, forcing the suspension of play. He will officially become the first club professional to make the cut in four years Saturday when the second round is complete.

Gaffney is playing in his fifth major. This will be the first time he’s survived the cut, which is projected to be 2-over.

Winged Foot assistant Grant Sturgeon had a run going, but suffered three bogeys on the way in to finish with a 73, leaving him 6-over for the championship.

The last time a member of the Met Section was low club pro at the PGA Championship was in 2010 when GlenArbor director of golf was the last of his peers standing at Whistling Straits.
