River View junior Matt Brillhart and Coshocton senior Sam Magness each had outstanding seasons for their respective basketball teams.
Each was rewarded with All-Ohio honors when the lists were released by the Associated Press this week.
Brillhart was an honorable-mention selection in Division II while Magness earned the same recognition in Division III.
Coshocton coach Tom Hilgenberg also shared Division III coach of the year honors with Dayton Northridge’s Jeff Lisath.
After going 4-19 in 2013-14, the Redskins finished 13-10 this season for one of the biggest turnarounds in program history.
Hilgenberg gave credit to the kids and his staff for the honor.
“I’m honestly shocked to receive this award and honored that the AP thought of our program,” he said. “This is definitely a team award because we had a group of kids who worked really hard in the summer and did everything we asked them to do to help make this possible.”
Brillhart averaged 17 points and just under five rebounds per game while Magness averaged 11.3 points per game for the balanced Redskins offense.
