It was a great year for many area high school softball teams in 2015, but for Bronson, it was a historic season.

The Vikings won 37 games and advanced to the Division 3 state championship game at Michigan State University, where they lost to No. 1-ranked Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central by the narrow score of 2-0.

And for guiding her squad to the last day of the season and her program’s first state final appearance, Bronson’s Becky Gray has been selected as the 2015 Enquirer All-Area Softball Coach of the Year.

Gray headlines this year’s Enquirer All-Area Softball Team, as selected by area coaches and the Enquirer Sports staff.

Three Vikings join Gray on the squad in Kinslea Blouin, Kelsey Robinson and Skyler Sobeski.

Other teammates to be selected to the All-Area team include Athens’ Hannah Fairchild and Allison Fuller; Climax-Scotts’ Mckenzie Hennessy, Sydney Macomber and Taylor Macomber; Coldwater’s Michaela Gillette, Payton Watson and Jamie Wellet; Homer’s Karleigh Butler and Courtney Wilson; and Union City’s Haley Harty and Skyler Herman.

Rounding out the team and representing their schools are Gull Lake’s Cassidy Eastman, Marshall’s Elisa Saari and Olivet’s Jordan Richmond.
