Several of the metro area’s top available talent will continue their basketball careers at Mississippi junior colleges.
Madison Central guard Leroy Buchanan and Callaway forward Wesley Harris signed National Letters of Intent with Northeast Mississippi Community College on Wednesday.
Buchanan, a first team all-state selection, led Madison Central to the Class 6A championship this season, averaging 24 points, six rebounds and two steals per game.
Harris, the Chargers dominating big man, posted 10.3 points, six rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, helping Callaway to its fourth straight state championship.
Joining the two all-state selections at Northeast is Corinth’s Kendall Stafford. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 16.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, two assists and 1.7 steals to help the Warriors reach the second round of the state tournament, where they fell to McComb.
Velma Jackson’s Anfernee Brown signed with Co-Lin on Wednesday. The 5-foot-10 guard was part of a potent starting five for the Falcons, scoring 4.1 points, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
