The New London wrestling team crowned two champions at the Cutler Classic Invitational at New London on Saturday.
Scott Cook and Tommy Thurber each finished first in their respective weight classes at the 12-team invite. Cook defeated Wauwatosa West/East’s Zach Miller 8-3 to win the 132 title with Thurber recording a major decision over Coleman’s Alex Stodola to claim the 170 crown.
New London finished fourth with 189 points to lead all area teams. Coleman was the champ with 250 points with Wauwatosa West/East (229.5) second and Oshkosh North (195.5) third.
Waupaca (7th, 129), Menasha (8th, 112), Weyauwega-Fremont (9th, 97) and Little Chute (11th, 54) also competed.
Austin Wyngaard was second at 160 with Garrett Ruckdashel (120), Grant Oswald (126), Skylar Moderson (138), Gabe Oswald (152) and Andrew Clauss (195) all placing third for the Bulldogs.
Logan Bernhardt (120) and Vince Ellie (182) finished second to pace Waupaca with Mitchell Rotta (160) finishing third.
Bailey Whipple was Menasha’s lone champion at 160 with Noah Baehman second at 106. Whipple defeated New London’s Austin Wyngaard 6-2 in the 160 championship match.
Weyauwega-Fremont’s Andy Bork captured the 285 title after defeating Coleman’s Donovan Salewski 3-2 in the title match.
Lars Schrader was fourth at 132 to pace Little Chute.
At Green Bay, Appleton East had three champions, including Isaac Burchby (113), Nathan Fens (126) and Steven Anderson (285).
Appleton East finished third at the Scramble with 191 points behind Green Bay West/Southwest (272) and Menomonee Falls (222).
Burchby pinned Menomonee Falls’ Ian Virlee in 1:23 to win the 113 crown with Fens defeating Menomonee Falls’ Nate Bonesho 8-3 to win at 126.
Anderson defeated Madison East’s Michael Dunlap 5-4 in the 285 first-place match.
Bryce Brown (170) placed second for the Patriots with Zachary Scharenbrock (120) finishing third.
Milwaukee Lutheran Invitational
At Milwaukee, Ethan Schneider (182) placed fifth to lead Fox Valley Lutheran, which finished 14th with 25 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran won the invite with 318.5 points.
Sauk Prairie Invite
At Sauk Prairie, Hortonville finished third with 199 points behind champion Sauk Prairie (262) and Pulaski (214.5).
Cam Luker (138) and Elliott Luker (152) won titles at their respective weights. Cam Luker decisioned Kettle Moraine’s Michael Hayes 5-4 to win the 138 crown with Elliott Luker beating Mt. Horeb’s Brad Jones 6-1 to win the 152 title.
Joe Cliver was second at 145 for the Polar Bears with Jacob Barnett placing third at 113. Fifth-place finishers for Hortonville included Curtis Diedrich (126), Nathan Lichtfuss (132) and Jacob Stein (285).
Brawl in the Falls
At Oconto Falls, Jack Litjens placed fourth at 220 to lead Winneconne.
Greg Petrie (126) and Josh Bluhm (182) also placed fifth for the Wolves.
Winneconne finished seventh with 68 points. Bay Port was first (245.5) with Oconto Falls second (239.5).
At Merrill, Xavier finished 24th with 22 points. Tony Montalvo placed 12th to lead the Hawks.
