Tyler Bacon had 17 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots – including a big one in the final seconds – to lift the Bullitt East High School boys’ basketball team to a 59-56 victory over Manual on Friday in a quarterfinal of the Republic Bank Louisville Invitational Tournament at Valley.
Tyler Sharpe (16 points, five assists, three steals) and Bailey Rakes (12 points, four assists) also had big games as Bullitt East (12-4) advanced to face Doss (14-2) in Saturday’s 10 a.m. semifinal.
With the Chargers leading 57-56, Bacon blocked Dwayne Sutton’s shot with 8 seconds left. Sharpe hit two free throws to make it 59-56, and Manual’s JaKory Freeman missed a 3-point try at the buzzer.
Sutton had 19 points, 15 rebounds and four steals to lead Manual (14-3), which is No. 3 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings.
