INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Rae’Quan Scott had another big night Friday, scoring 22 points in Butler’s 76-58 victory over Southwestern foe Porter Ridge.

With the victory, Butler has now won 13-straight games, 12 of which have been by double digits. The Bulldogs got the game going with a fast first quarter, scoring 21 points in the opening frame. The Pirates’ offense struggled early, unable to keep pace with Butler in the first half, trailing 40-27 going into the locker room.

In the second half, Porter Ridge got it going offensively, outscoring Butler by 6 in a 20-point burst. In the fourth, Butler took over and doubled-up on the Pirates, pulling away for the 18-point win.

Both teams struggled from beyond the arc, shooting a combined 37% in the game. Where Butler really hurt Porter Ridge was inside the arc, shooting 63% on all two-point baskets compared to just 50% for the Pirates. The second half of Butler’s dynamite junior duo, Orlando Robinson, had a particularly good night, shooting 70% and finishing with 19 points. Porter Ridge senior D’andre Dennis and Butler sophomore Jah’Lil Carter both had a game-high 10 rebounds for their teams, with Dennis also piling on 6 assists.

The Bulldogs will be out of action until January 20, when they host rival Independence. Porter Ridge gets back on the hardwood Friday, hosting East Meck.
