CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The third annual Cam Newton 7 v 7 Football Tournament is going to be held Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26 at Olympic High School in Charlotte.

The two day event will be a unique and great experience for all coaches and players taking part. As of now, the Cam Newton Foundation is hoping to have 26 area high schools compete in the event that will award $2500 designated for football gear to the winning school.

The Charlotte competition will feature a full day’s worth of round robin action with each team playing in at least six games. Following the first day’s games, teams will be seeded based on their respective records. Day two will consist of bracket play that will determine the tournament’s overall winner and runner-up. As an added bonus, the top two teams will receive a chance to participate in the Cam Newton 7 v 7 High School Championship tournament in Fort Mill, S.C. July 10-11. The top two teams in the Charlotte tournament will compete against winning teams from Atlanta and Birmingham.

As part of competing in the tournament, teams will be given gear courtesy of Under Armour. Players will receive two Under Armour shirts, one pair of shorts, and a pair of wristbands to wear during the event. Coaches will receive one Under Armour polo shirt and a hat. The total retail value of each team’s gear is over $1,900.

There are currently 24 teams signed up to compete in the Charlotte tournament, which means there’s still time for two area schools to get signed up. For any coaches or athletic directors interested in taking part in the Cam Newton 7 v 7 tournament, please email CNF@cam1newton.com.
