PRESCOTT VALLEY – For the better part of a decade, Ryan Allred had imagined himself winning four state wrestling championships and joining an elite Arizona high school sports fraternity.
Finally, he doesn’t have to imagine it anymore.
The Camp Verde senior put a cap on a magnificent career Friday, winning the 152-pound title in Division IV at the Prescott Valley Event Center and becoming the 29th Arizona wrestler to win four championships.
“The moment’s here,” Allred said afterward. “I’m on top of the world right now. Since fifth grade, I’ve dreamed of being a four-timer. And now finally being here, … it’s amazing. It’s the best feeling I’ve ever had in my entire life.”
Allred finishes his season undefeated at 47-0 and exits Camp Verde with just one loss in his high school career.
After pinning each of his three opponents in less than a minute during Thursday’s preliminaries, he almost accomplished the feat in the finals Friday against Fountain Hills senior Josh Vaught.
Allred scored a quick takedown and then got the pin with 56 seconds to go in the first period.

Thanks in part to Allred’s run of pins, Camp Verde claimed its third straight team title, earning 167 points to second-place Morenci’s 158.5.
Camp Verde also got champions at 113 pounds with sophomore Hayden Uhler and 120 pounds with junior Alex Casillas. Both could join Allred as four-time champs in the coming years.
“We all worked together when we were younger – all the way through middle school,” Allred said. “It’s just amazing to see that us pushing each other has brought us to the point that we can finally reap the rewards.”
Also repeating as individual champions were Eagar Round Valley senior Ethan Workman at 132 pounds, St. Johns senior Sherod Bride at 160, Benson senior Kieran Maakestad at 182 and Morenci senior Santiago Robledo at 285.
