Athletic achievement: She led the Colts to a 23-1 record and the fourth round of the Class 4A playoffs this past season. Williams posted a 21-1 record and a 0.12 ERA in the circle, along with a .506 batting average, seven home runs and 52 RBI. A MaxPreps Underclass All-American, the Mid-South Player of the Year and the Class 4A East Pitcher of the Year, she struck out 235 batters in 121.1 innings pitched while surrendering just 26 hits and issuing only 15 walks. Seventeen of her victories were by shutout.
Academic excellence: Williams has maintained a weighted 4.21 GPA.
Exemplary character: A devoted member of her church community, she has volunteered locally on behalf of the Salvation Army and an assisted living facility.
“Williams is a great pitcher who also hits the ball very well,” said Stuart Gilmer, head coach at Grays Creek High. “She throws really hard, she’s got a good changeup and she’s got a rise ball that just takes off. And she can put every pitch wherever she wants it to go.”
THE FUTURE: Williams has signed with East Carolina.
