The Carlisle girls basketball team defeated Class 5-A Ankeny in its home opener Nov. 24.
The Class 4-A 15th-ranked Wildcats won, 57-44, improving their record to 2-0 on the young season.
Carlisle exploded for 21 first-quarter points and then took a 33-20 lead at the half and never looked back. Agatha Beier led all scorers with a game-high 27 points. Hailey Brunsen added 10 more points, Gabby Schnathorst with six and Mackenzie Lose with five.
The Wildcats also took advantage of getting to the charity stripe, sinking 21 of their 33 attempts at the free-throw line.
Carlisle’s next game is on the road at Pella Dec. 1, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity boys’ season opener to follow.
