The death of 9-year-old Ohio football player Wyatt Barber was caused by an abnormal left main coronary artery in his heart, the Megis County Sheriff’s Department said.
Barber died Monday night following what was described as a “light” non-contact practice with the Big Bend Youth Football League in Reedsville, Ohio.

The preliminary autopsy was performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office in Dayton, Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood said. A final report should take four to six weeks.
Barber was a third-grader at Eastern Elementary School. A vigil is planned at the school for this week.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family, organized by a self-described “Football Mom” at Eastern Local School.
