Cedar Hill High School head football coach Joey McGuire was arrested on DWI charges early Friday morning, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
McGuire reported the incident to Cedar Hill ISD, according to a release from the school district.
“We are still in the process of gathering information and will handle any discipline internally and take appropriate action,” the statement read.
“Coach McGuire is aware of the impact this will have on the CHISD community, Cedar Hill High School and the football team he coaches,” the statement continued.
McGuire became the head coach of the Cedar Hill football team in 2002 and has guided the Longhorns to back-to-back state titles. McGuire was offered an assistant position on Charlie Strong’s staff at the University of Texas earlier this year, but he declined the move.
