Chef of the Week
In sports the term “cookin” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.
This week’s “Chef of the Week” award goes to Deerfield Beach (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) kicker Jefferson Souza for nailing field goals of 35 and 41 yards to knockoff then No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) last week.
No one gave the Buccaneers a shot, but Souza’s foot got it done.
That’s what true chef’s do.
Smackdown of the Week
This award is reserved for the player who managed to unleash an eyebrow-raising, cringe-worthy, must-rewind blow that prompted a thunderous “ooh” from the fans in the stands.
This week’s “Smackdown of the Week” winner is Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.) linebacker Kyle Bilchik for the massive blow he delivered in a recent loss to Loyola (Los Angeles).
Bilchik fought off a would-be blocker and met the running back, who was fumbling with the handoff, in the backfield then completely leveled him for a loss.
Watch the smackdown below, if you dare.
Oh No They Didn’t!
This award is reserved for the player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.
This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) receiver Donald Stewart for snagging the game-winning touchdown catch as time expired to knockoff Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) last week.
Stewart darted toward the end zone from the Bosco 35-yard line on fourth down and out-willed the Bosco secondary for the big catch.
