It’s coincidence but Scottsdale Chaparral’s Kurt Shughart, Brandon Jamison and Christian Skeptaris all are going to be Aggies in college.
Shughart, a senior strong safety, is the latest to commit last week, when he told New Mexico State coaches he will play for them.
Jamison, a defensive end, and Skeptaris, a tight end, both committed to UC Davis.
Shughart said he was impressed during an unofficial visit to New Mexico State.
“They have amazing facilities,” he said. “I felt very comfortable with the staff there.”
Shughart said New Mexico State likes him at safety and at the nickel position.
He said he has been pushed this summer by his Chaparral coaches, running and lifting weights.
-Chandler senior cornerback Kyree Woods has committed to San Diego State. He said he was offered a scholarship after Chandler won a 7 on 7 tournament there. He stood out, making stops throughout the tournament.
“I chose them because I felt most comfortable around the coaching staff, their football program,” said Woods, one of eight defensive starters returning from last season’s 13-1 Division I state championship team. “It is heading in the right direction. They have a good business program, and I’m also close to home.”
