Char Valley Volleyball on the Rise

By

volleyballAfter a whopping upset over Mt. Lebanon on Thursday, the Chartiers Valley Girls Volleyball team is in high spirits. Led by senior captain Allie Ferri and junior captain Jane Rodavich, the girls are gearing up for their first playoff run in 3 years. With their current 2-3 record they are in good shape for a winning record. Senior ShyAnne Toomer is leading the varsity team in both aces and kills. Coach Jason Ferri was quoted saying, “ShyAnne is a fantastic student and a dynamic volleyball player. ShyAnne has high character, high energy, is a two sport athlete (also plays lacrosse) that brings a ton of intangibles to the court. Beyond the court, she’s been a great mentor to our young players and  is a presence as a leader.” This is Coach Ferri’s second year as head coach and things are looking up. Not only are the varsity starters putting in work, but there is a lot of talent on the bench. Other notable varsity players include sophomore Jocey Dunn, juniors Sydney Mickens and Marissa Parissi, and senior Sadie Fox. Jane Rodavich said, “I have full confidence that our team has the ability to make it to playoffs. If we continue to put 110% into each practice, and continue to believe in ourselves, you will definitely see us first round of playoffs.” The girls will face off against West Allegheny next Tuesday away at West A. Playoffs beware, because the girls of Chartiers Valley are here to play and stay.
