MATTHEWS, N.C. — The Butler Bulldogs cruised to their fourth straight win of the season Friday night, shutting out Southwestern 4A foe Garinger 56-0.

The Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Wildcats from the early stages of the game, with Butler racing out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. Butler extended their lead to 14-0 at the end of the first frame.

Early in the second, a turnover allowed the Bulldogs to score their first of five touchdowns in the quarter, with Butler taking a 49-0 lead into the locker room. Butler quarterback Davis Cheek finished the game 11 of 15 for 194 yards and six touchdowns.

Butler visits East Mecklenburg next week in a conference game. Garinger will face Rocky River in a must-win game for both squads.
