The Moeller football team from Cincinnati will host Huber Heights Wayne in Week 2 in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPNU, Cincinnati.com has learned.
The game will be shown live at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 6. It is a rematch of last season’s Division I state semifinal, which Wayne won 29-22. Wayne would lose in the state title game.
Moeller is talented and deep yet again this season. Moeller was a Division I state semifinalist in 2014 after winning state titles in 2013 and 2012.
Senior quarterback Thomas MacVittie is verbally committed to Pitt and his development has accelerated with his release and arm strength.
Senior tight end Jake Hausmann is an Ohio State commit and is arguably the nation’s top tight end in the 2016 class.
Senior lineman Ryan Smith is committed to Indiana. Senior kicker Matt Coghlin is one of the state’s top kickers and is committed to Michigan State.
Moeller also features talented players with early offers in the 2017 class including offensive lineman Samari Saddler and tight end Matt Dotson. (Dotson is expected to be out until Week 5 after surgery on his hand).
Wayne features senior quarterback Messiah deWeaver (Michigan State commit), who competed in the Elite 11 this summer.
