Clyde boys, Bellevue girls top A.W. Hendricks Invite

Clyde’s boys track and field team topped the competition at Saturday’s A.W. Hendricks Invitational. The Fliers placed first in a field of eight teams with 133 points. Fremont Ross was second (113), Bellevue fourth (60) and Lakota eighth (16).

Collin Rieman was first in the 400 dash (50.83 seconds) for Clyde, while Zach Rieman was second (51.34). Austin Baker won the 110 hurdles in 16.52 and the pole vault by clearing the 13-foot mark. The Fliers’ 4×400 relay team of Mathew Gerber, Joe Bair and both Rieman boys finished first at 3:29.53. Collin Mange won the shot put (47-feet, 1/2-inch) and the discus (145-03).

Fremont Ross got two individual first-place finishes by Jeffrey Barnett. He won the 300 hurdles (42.24) and the long jump (20-101/2). Barnett also ran first leg on Ross’s winning 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams. Tyler Grine, Jalen Oman and Tavarius Simms also ran the 4×100 (44.05). Barnett, Grine, Oman, and Jaylen Spencer’s 1:31.38 time in the 4×200 was a meet record.

Bellevue’s girls topped the field of eight teams with 1381/2 points. Ross was second (104), Clyde fourth (72) and Lakota eighth (19).

Liz Ish won the 400 (1:01.75) for the Lady Red. Laruen Turner won the 800 (2:26.63). Michaela Fox was first in the 3,200 (12:32.50) and Sarah Bedell took first in the 100 hurdles (16.37). Ish and Turner teamed up with Vivian Benedict and Kylie Vogel to win the 4×400 relay (4:19.77). Fox, Hannah Weasner, Taylor Waldecker and Mariah McPeak won the 4×800 relay (10:20.91). Laken Tester won the long jump with a 15-103/4 leap.

The Little Giants’ Derae James took first in the 100 in 13.17. Vanashia Elkins won the 200 (27.36). Cassidi Lovell won the 1,600 in 5:43.86. James, Elkins, Ally Guyton and Aerianna Whittaker won the 4×100 relay (51.37). Whittaker, Elkins, James and Aleandrea Holmes took first in the 4×200 relay (1:48.82).

Paula Wollenslegel won the 300 hurdles for Clyde in 47.48. Dominique Loparo was first in the pole vault after clearing 10-01.

Lakota’s Katie Park won the discus (109-01).
