Clyde’s boys tennis team beat Fremont Ross 3-2 and St. Joseph Central Catholic 5-0 Wednesday to stay unbeaten on the season.
Hiroki Kiwai beat Robert Joerg of Ross at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4 and Nathan Strudthoff (No. 3) defeated Conner Martin, 6-2, 7-5. Caleb Prunty (No. 2) fell to Ross’s Nate Rellinger, 6-4, 6-0, but rebounded to beat SJCC’s Austin Underwood in a straight-set sweep.
The Fliers’ David Murphy teamed up with Noah Prunty to beat Ross’s Henry Nguyen/Dylan Willey, 6-3, 7-5 in their No. 1 doubles match. Jacob Roach/Scott Clapp (No. 2 doubles) fell to the Little Giants’ Joel Meyer/Marshall Kuieck in a two-set tie-break. Murphy also beat SJCC’s Patrick Cool at No. 1 singles in straight set. Noah Prunty downed Underwood (No. 2 singles), 6-0, 6-0 and Clyde’s Tyler Liebengood beat the Crimson Streaks’ Blake Shultz by the same score.
Clyde (5-0) won its No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches against St. Joe by forfeit.
