Clyde’s boys tennis team tallied 28 team points and took second place at their home invitaional tournament sponsored by Impact Credit Union. Norwalk was first with 38 points.
Hiroki Kawai (No. 1 singles) won his first-round match for the Fliers by injury default, but fell to Springfield’s Cody Wurzelbacher, 6-0, 6-1. Caleb Prunty (No. 2) fell in the opening round to Norwalk’s John Woods, 7-6(4), 6-4, while Nathan Strudthoff (No. 3) lost to Joey Thomas of Norwalk, 6-4, 5-7, 12-10.
Noah Prunty/David Murphy beat Springfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Alex Dodson/Gavin Robie in straight sets before falling to Clay’s Blaze Okey/Noah Durczynski, 6-4, 6-3. Clyde’s second singles duo of Jacob Roach/Scott Clapp lost to Norwalk’s Jacob Deiderick/Jacob Coe in the finals after a first-round bye and a second-round win over Clay’s Andrew Rumans/Kaden Kim.
