There was an element of the unknown for much of the 2015 high school baseball season, as several area programs joined newly-formed leagues.

Once the dust settled and the conference standings were finalized, it was clear who the best teams were in the new landscape.

And no area team had a season quite like Coldwater, as the Cardinals captured the inaugural title in the Interstate Eight Conference, matching a school record for victories in a season at 32-8 and earning the program’s fourth consecutive district title.

And for leading his team to an outstanding campaign, Coldwater’s Randy Spangler has been tabbed the 2015 Enquirer All-Area Baseball Coach of the Year.

Representing their schools and rounding out the team are Athens’ Braxton Rivera; Bellevue’s Garrett Waterbury; Tekonsha’s Riley Lloyd and Union City’s Darren Austin.
