MILESTONES

Tressa Lyman (Enterprise 2011) has been selected to the All-Big Sky Conference Tournament Team after leading the Idaho State University volleyball program to the title match, eventually dropping a 3-0 heartbreaker at Northern Arizona University (28-4) to conclude the season on Nov. 21 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Through the tournament, the senior finished No. 3 on the all-time list in conference history for kills recorded with 60.

In the loss, she collected her 32nd double-digit of the year in kills after delivering 19 kills, 15 digs, two assists and two blocks.
For the season, she’s tallied 488 kills, 332 digs, 64 blocks, 45 assists and 35 aces.

Mike Sharp (Dixie 2010) collected College Football Performance Association Performer Football College Subdivision (FCS) Performer of the Week for his brilliant effort as a starting wide receiver for NCAA Division FCS No. 17 Southern Utah University (9-3) in a 49-41 triumph at home against Northern Arizona University (7-4) to clinch the Big Sky Conference title on Nov. 21 in Cedar City.

In the competition, the All-Big Sky Conference second-team performer hauled in three touchdowns and 169 yards from eight receptions en route to surpassing 1,000 total yards for the season.

On Nov. 28, he followed by registering 141 yards and three TDs from eight catches in a 42-39 loss to NCAA Division I FCS Sam Houston State University (9-3) in the opening round of the NCAA Division I FCS Football Championship Tournament on Nov. 28 in Huntsville, Texas.

For the season, he’s compiled 889 yards and 13 TDs from 54 receptions.

On the ground, he’s added 51 yards and one TD from six rushing attempts.

He is also listed at No. 1 among the Thunderbirds in yards from kick returns with 239 from 11 returns.

Ty Rutledge (Desert Hills 2013) racked up a career-high 100 total yards at running back for the Southern Utah University football program against Sam Houston State University.

In the competition, he hauled in 39 yards from a career-high eight receptions and added a 61-yard TD run on his lone rushing attempt.

For the season, the junior’s totaled 178 yards from 17 catches and TD runs of 61 yards and two yards.

Ciara Parker (Snow Canyon 2012) clinched her 24th double-digit effort of the year in digs as a defensive specialist for the No. 11 BYU volleyball program (26-3) in a 3-1 victory at home against Pepperdine University (17-14) on Nov. 24 in Provo.
For the year, the senior’s compiled a team-high 422 digs, 110 assists, 30 aces, three kills and one block.

GEM

Brandon Simister (Desert Hills 2012) collected his third double-digit scoring effort of the season as a guard for the Dixie State University men’s basketball program (3-3) in a 71-58 triumph against the University of Alaska Fairbanks (4-2) on Nov. 27 in Billings, Montana.
For the season, the sophomore’s compiled 12.5 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game.

FOOTBALL

Mike Needham (Desert Hills 2012) contributed eight tackles, two pass breakups and one tackle for loss as a starting linebacker for NCAA Division I Football College Subdivision (FCS) No. 17 Southern Utah University (9-3) in a 42-39 loss to NCAA Division I FCS Sam Houston State University (9-3) in the opening round of the NCAA Division I FCS Football Championship Tournament on Nov. 28 in Huntsville, Texas.

For the season, the All-Big Sky Conference first-team performer totaled a career-high 94 tackles, 10 pass deflections, 8.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, one sack and one blocked kick.

From interception and fumble returns, he added 94 yards and one touchdown.

Chance Bearnson (Cedar 2011) added four tackles and one sack as a starting defensive lineman for Southern Utah University against Sam Houston State University.

For the year, the All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention selection collected 46 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, four pass deflections, four pass breakups, 3.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Jarom Healey (Hurricane 2011) collected an appearance at running back for Southern Utah University against Sam Houston State University.
For the season, the junior’s totaled 339 yards and four TDs from 67 carries.

Austin Mikkelson (Pine View 2012) secured his 12th start of the year at left guard for Southern Utah University against Northern Arizona University.

Kolton Donovan (Pine View 2012) collected his 10th appearance of the season at long snapper for Southern Utah University against Northern Arizona University.

Kurt Henderson (Snow Canyon 2008) hauled in 39 yards from two receptions as a wide receiver for BYU (9-3) in a 51-28 triumph at Utah State University (6-6) on Nov. 28 in Logan.
For the season, the senior’s totaled 58 yards from four catches.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Whitni Syrett (Bryce Valley 2013) contributed five points and one rebound as a forward for Westminster College (3-1) in an 88-60 victory at home against Northwest Nazarene University (1-4) on Nov. 27 in Salt Lake City.
For the season, the junior’s totaled 4.3 rebounds per game, three rebounds per game and 1.2 assists per game.
