A pair of Eighth Region high schools have named new girls basketball coaches for the 2015-16 season.

Sean Pigman is the new coach at Collins after spending the past eight seasons as an assistant coach at Mercer County. Pigman helped Mercer County go 29-4 and win the 12th Region title last season. The Lady Titans set a state record by attempting 939 3-point shots during the season.

Pigman replaces Phillip Conder, who guided Collins in its first five seasons and posted a 76-70 record. Conder recently was named the principal at the Shelby County Education Center at Cropper.

Brian Hood is the new coach at Oldham County. He replaces Jace Bryant, who stepped down after posting a 45-40 record in three seasons.

Hood spent last season as an assistant coach with the Oldham County boys program. He’s the father of Jon Hood, who was Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball at Madisonville-North Hopkins in 2009 and went on to play at the University of Kentucky.
