Athletic achievement: He broke the tape at the New England Cross Country Championships this past season with a meet-record time of 15:07. The state’s returning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, Ostberg won his second consecutive Class L state championship in 15:21 and captured the State Open championship in a course-record time of 14:58. He also finished first the Manhattan Invitational and won the Foot Locker Northeast Regional championships in 15:17.8. Ostberg took ninth at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, earning All-American status.

Academic excellence: Ostberg has maintained a 4.10 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally as an emergency medical technician with Darien Emergency Medical Services Post 53.


“Alex had an incredible year,” said Darien coach Tyson Kaczmarek. “He now he has three of the four fastest times ever on the Wickham Park course that is used for the Class and Open championships, as well as for New Englands.”

THE FUTURE: Ostberg has signed with Stanford.
