Marvin Bagley III, azcentral sports’ Big Schools Player of the Year, became the first freshman ever to be named among the top 50 All-Americans by CBS MaxPreps.
The 6-foot-11 Tempe Corona del Sol forward made the CBS MaxPreps honorable mention All-American list. CBS MaxPreps has been doing All-American teams since 2006.
Bagley averaged 19.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 2.3 assists on a 33-1 team that captured its fourth consecutive Division I state basketball championship.
Bagley is the sixth Arizona basketball player to ever make the MaxPreps boys All-American team.

He joins point guard Casey Benson of Corona del Sol (2014), Mesa point guard Jahii Carson (2011), Phoenix North guard Daniel Bejarano (2010), Goodyear Estrella Foothills guard Corey Hawkins (2010) and Phoenix St. Mary’s guard Jerryd Bayless (2009).

Bagley will play in his first AAU spring tournament April 25-26 in the Arizona Invitational at Gilbert Mesquite and Mesa Skyline. Bagley is playing for his father’s Phoenix Phamily club team that is mostly freshmen along with his seventh-grade brother, Marcus, who is 6-3. They will play in the 17-and-under class. The elder Bagley said this is mostly for development.
Bagley already has 12 college scholarship offers.
