River Run Invitational: The Lomira girls cross country team finished first at Thursday’s River Run Invitational, hosted by Horicon.

The Lions scored 48 points as a team to easily best second-place Mayville, which finished with 75. St. Mary’s Springs was fourth (95 points), Campbellsport fifth (123), Winnebago Lutheran sixth (155) and Laconia seventh (168).

Winnebago Lutheran’s Sarah Niehueser was third individually to lead area runners, finishing with a time of 20 minutes, 39 seconds.

Lomira’s Kaytlin Kuczkowski was fourth (21:03) and Christina Biffert and Taylor Wondra were fifth and sixth, respectively. Mayville’s Cecily Hurtienne was seventh, St. Mary’s Springs’ Paige Case eighth and Springs’ Morgan Krupp 10th.

Paige Bauer of Lomira took 11th and Emily McGovern of Springs was 12th. Laconia’s Ally Francis finished 14th and Campbellsport’s Elizabeth Butzke took 15th.

On the boys side, Laconia took fifth as a team with 150 points. Omro won the meet with 23 points.

Winnebago Lutheran was seventh (194), St. Mary’s Springs eighth (206), Campbellsport ninth (214), Lomira 11th (236) and Mayville 13th (282).

Laconia’s Alec Potter led area runners with a fifth-place finish, coming in with a time of 17:38.

Campbellsport’s Levi Feucht was 10th and Mayville’s Brodie Harycki took 14th. Evan Schulz finished 16th to lead Winnebago Lutheran, while St. Mary’s Springs’ Sam Busse was 19th and Lomira’s Erik Danner took 38th.
