Matt Cuppari hit a two-run home run to left in the top of the first inning and scored in a three-run fifth on an errant pickoff throw as Brick Memorial defeated Colts Neck, 5-3, Saturday at Howell in a Strike Out Autism Baseball Challenge game.
It was the first loss of the season for Colts Neck (8-1), ranked No. 4 in the Asbury Park Press Top 10.
The homer was Cuppari’s second of the season.
James Donlon and Jack Voss added RBI singles in the fifth for the Mustangs (4-8).
Ian Ambroke pitched five innings of five-hit ball. He struck out three and walked three to improve to 2-1.
D.J. Wilson pitched the final two innings to pick up the save.
Tyler Kapuscinski went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and scored a run and Mike Antico was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and scored a run for Colts Neck.

Jackson Memorial 8, Jackson Liberty 4: Rich Rountree’s one-out grand slam to right in the bottom of the seventh capped a seven-run rally and gave the Jaguars (4-4) the win over the Lions (3-4) at Jackson Memorial.
Jackson Liberty led 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, but the Jaguars (4-4) rallied behind a two-run double by Chris Hawryluk and a bases-loaded infield single by Joe DeMaio.
Ryan Takacs (2-0) picked up the win in relief.
Matt Pinto went 3-for-3 with three RBI and scored a run for Jackson Liberty.
Ocean 3, Freehold 2: Anthony Bartolomei’s homer in the bottom of the eighth, his second of the game, gave the No. 8 Spartans (8-1) the win over the Colonials (5-6) at Ocean.
Bartolomei also homered in the fourth and pitched seven innings of three-hit ball with six strikeouts.
Marc Chernin tied the game with a two-out RBI single in the sixth after Brian Olesen had doubled with two out.
Frank Granato had an RBI single in the fourth for Freehold with runners on second and third. However, on that play, Ocean center fielder Sam Maxwell threw the runner trying to score from second out at home.
Red Bank 9, Monmouth 8: Claudio LoBraico’s suicide squeeze bunt in the bottom of the ninth scored Drew Cook with the winning run as the Bucs (3-6) scored twice in the ninth and knocked off the Falcons (4-3) at St. John Vianney.
Len Diguilio, who led off the ninth with a single followed by a walk to Cook, scored the tying run on a wild pitch with runners on second and third.
DiGuilio had scored the tying run in the seventh, when Red Bank scored four runs, on Matt Santos’ two-out single.
Josh Jackson had homered in the top of the ninth to give Monmouth the lead.
Andrew Slinger belted a three-run homer in a five-run top of the fourth for Monmouth.
Shore 11, Matawan 9: Junior Devin McLaughlin belted a two-run triple in the top of the seventh that made the score 11-8 and capped a three-run rally and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles and scored two runs as the Blue Devils (4-3) defeated the Huskies (3-5) at Ocean.
Junior Michael O’Halloran was 2-for-3 with five RBI and James Kelly picked up his third win by pitching h two innings of relief.
Adam Elliott had a three-run homer for Matawan in the third.
RB Catholic 10, TR South 3: Aaron Ahn belted a two-run homer and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Mike Ianelli and Evan Madigan each had three hits as the No. 3 Caseys (7-0) defeated the No. 6 Indians (5-2) at Toms River South’s Ken Frank Baseball Stadium
Freehold Township 5, Central 1: Joe Silvestrone belted a two-run homer, his Shore Conference-leading sixth of the season, and went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs, Brandon Roth went 2-for-2 with two walks an RBI and scored a run and Kyle Fenton pitched a complete-game two-hitter and struck out five and walked none as the Patriots (5-4) defeated the Golden Eagles (4-3) at Central
Point Boro 12, Long Branch 10: Mike Falconetti went 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Panthers (4-5) outlasted the Green Wave (1-9) at Wall.
Howell 10, Holmdel 5: Connor Fey went 3-for-3 with three RBI, Mike Parisi was 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored two runs and Donovan O’Malley pitched the first five innings to pick up his first varsity win as the No. 9 Rebels (5-3) defeated the Hornets (2-6) at Howell.
SJ Vianney 7, Barnegat 1: Jeff McPeek was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Nick DeLuise had a solo homer and three pitchers combined on a five-hitter as the Lancers (6-1) defeated the Bengals (4-3) at St. John Vianney.
Manalapan 11, Brick 5: Chris Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run, Ryan McGrane went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI and scored two runs, Matt Klepper went 3-for-4 and scored two runs, Tyler Stafflinger went 2-for-3 with a homer and scored two runs as the No. 10 Braves (7-4) defeated the No. 7 Green Dragons (5-3) at Jackson Memorial.
St. Rose 9, Manasquan 3: Travis Cloney went 2-for-3 with a two-run double with two out in the second, Kyle Missry was 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored two runs and Joe Volpe was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI as the Purple Roses (5-3) defeated the Warriors (3-4) at St. Rose.
Southern 12, Mater Dei Prep 6: Zach Mason struck out 14 and allowed just two hits, Jared Lubanski was 3-for-4 with an RBI, two stolen bases and scored two runs, Matt Malatesta was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Mike Lee was 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double, a stolen base and scored a run as the Rams (3-6) defeated the Seraphs (5-3) at Central.
Raritan 6, Lakewood 2: Mike Kelleher pitched a complete-game one-hitter and struck out nine and Ryan Ruziecki’s three-run double in the bottom of the fifth put the Rockets (5-3) ahead to stay in their win over the Piners (2-6) at Raritan.
Donovan Catholic 8, Midd. North 1: Freshman Michael Dimino pitched a complete-game three-hitter and struck out three and walked none on 78 pitches in his first varsity appearance, Matt Drake had a two-run double and Mike Marron and Zach Drake each had RBI singles in a four-run first as the Griffins (6-2) defeated the Lions (3-5) at St. Rose.

South 6, Lacey 1: Right-hander John Martin pitched one-hit ball for five innings and struck out six and walked none, Jeff Lewandowski had a two-out, two-run single in the fourth and Austin Markman went 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the fifth as the Eagles (5-5) defeated the Lions (3-5) at Toms River South.
