Central Valley Christian’s Gabby Satterlee earned a bronze medal at the CIF State Cross Country Championships with a third-place finish in the Division IV girls race Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

The Baylor-bound Satterlee turned in a time of 17 minutes, 44 seconds. Santa Cruz’s Cate Ratliff won the Division IV girls race with a time of 17:03.7.

CVC, the 2014 CIF Division IV girls champion, took eighth place as a team.

CVC’s Shanni Slabber (18:54.9) was 30th in the Division IV girls race, and Jenna Wilson was 44th (19:27.6) in the 192-runner field.

The CVC boys took 20th place in the Division V boys race. Leading the way for CVC was Luke Dykstra. Dykstra finished 19th with a time of 16:21.5. CVC’s Chandler Maciel was 77th (17:12.1) in 196-runner field.

Dinuba took 19th place in the Division III boys bracket. Isaac Ocguera led the Emperor contingent with a 90th-place finish (16:36.4).

The Dinuba girls took 21st in the Division III girls bracket. Karina Vidrios led the Emperors with a 99th-place finish (19:51.9).

Redwood’s De’Vyd Laswon was 87th (16:29.4) in the 192-runner Division II boys field.

In the Division II girls race, Redwood’s Jewel Jasso finished at No. 101 (19:30.8) and Golden West’s Rebecca Harris was 133rd (19:59.4).

Girls Basketball

Mission Oak 48, Madera 41: The defending Central Section Division III champion Hawks opened up their 2015-16 season with a win over the Division II Coyotes Saturday night in their foundation game.

Senior forward Tristen Myers led Mission Oak (1-0) with 19 points. Kambrayia Elzy added nine points, and Nashedah Mu’Min scored eight.

Mission Oak held a 20-19 halftime lead, and outscored Madera 28-22 over the final two quarters. Mission Oak visits Redwood today. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
