Oxford (Miss.) senior wide receiver D.K. Metcalf’s Hudl highlight reel is entitled, “Optimus Megacalf,” which sounds presumptuous, until you watch him make some of the most ridiculous catches you’ll ever see.
Two of those crazy catches came in Thursday’s 56-26 win against Lake Cormorant (Miss.) on Senior Night, when the Ole Miss-bound son of former Chicago Bears lineman Terrence Metcalf made a pair of one-handed touchdown snags, including a 48-yarder that featured a leaping grab across the middle of the defense.
To see those catches again from a different, equally impressive angle, fast forward to the 18-second mark:
It was all part of a 10-catch, 183-yard performance for the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Metcalf. That effort put him over the 1,000-yard mark for the second consecutive season, as he now has 59 catches for 1,018 yards and 14 scores entering the Class 5A state tournament. Want more Optimus Megacalf? Of course you do …
