The Lumberjacks’ midfielder scored twice within a few minutes midway through the first half Tuesday to help her team to a 2-1 win over Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match. It was the first conference win of the season for the Lumberjacks, who host D.C. Everest Thursday. Dehnel was a second team all-WVC selection last season and totaled three goals and eight points in conference play.

The Chargers’ sprinter won the the 100 and 200 meters and was part of the winning 1,600 relay team to lead the Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls to a second-place finish in the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 meet Monday in Manawa. Pietz’s teammates Taylor Nier and Alexis Balliet won the 800 and 3,200, respectively, and were both on the winning 3,200 relay team.

The Bluejays outfielder drove in three runs in a win over Lakeland last Thursday and followed that with a three more RBI the next day in a rout of Medford in a nonconference game at Athletic Park in Merrill. The Bluejays, who have won two straight games, host D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference doubleheader Thursday at Athletic Park.

The attacker/midfielder totaled five goals in the first two games of the season for the Wausau Wolfpack, including an a hat trick in a loss to Catholic Memorial last Saturday. The Wolfpack, who lost an 11-4 game at Bay Port on Tuesday, travel to Neenah Thursday. The Wolfpack (1-3) hosts the Westside Crusaders Saturday, the first of a five-game homestand.
