CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On a night that saw field goal kickers seemingly take center stage across the city, Davidson Day’s Jeremy Silinski did his part to take some of the spotlight, nailing a 24-yard field goal with time expiring to push Davidson Day past Charlotte Latin 38-36.
Latin appeared to be poised to pull away in the first half, leading 20-7 heading to the locker room. Davidson Day’s offense figured out the Hawks during the break, scoring twice to take a 21-20 lead.
The Patrots’ Cade Carney put Davidson Day on his back again Friday, rushing for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also grabbed six receptions for 100 yards and another score. To complete the trifecta, Carney tossed a 46-yard touchdown on a trick play in the second half.
