COLTS NECK By now Red Bank Catholic head coach Jim Portela should be used to seeing the very best of Shore Conference opponents, something that comes with the territory with RBC football.

Saturday afternoon was no exception as Colts Neck played the Caseys tough through four quarters of the game. In the end, it was RBC who took home the victory by a final score of 25-0.

The Red Bank Catholic defense was again the story, recording its fourth shutout in five games. It was another solid game from the defense as a unit, but as the Caseys built a lead it opened things up for the defensive line to make plays.

Week 5 coverage of high school football at the Shore

“When a team falls behind they sort of become one dimensional, and that helped us in the second half,” Portela said.

RBC quarterback Eddie Hahn is close to 100 percent health wise according to Portela, as the senior was able to extend several pass plays with his scramble abilities. Hahn scored the first touchdown of the game for the Caseys on a quarterback keeper.

“He played very well today, but he also has some things he can work on,” Portela said. “Now that he has his mobility back he needs to work that and make some better decisions.”

Dylan Murphy, Michael Wilen, and Zach Bair each finished with a rushing touchdown for Red Bank Catholic. The undefeated Caseys will travel to undefeated Red Bank on Friday night, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

“Red Bank is an outstanding team, they look like they are playing defense with about 18 kids out there,” Portela said. “Offensively they have so many weapons, it’s going to be a great challenge for us, we look forward to it.”

Key play: Michael Wilen had a five yard touchdown run with only a minute left in the first half to put RBC up 18-0

Offensive game ball: Senior quarterback Eddie Hahn was a threat both through the air and on the ground for RBC for the entire game

Defensive game ball: The defensive line as a whole made several sacks and forced a fumble in the second half.

Up next: RBC will travel to Red Bank on Friday night, and Colts Neck will play at Neptune on Saturday, Oct. 17.
