CHEF OF THE WEEK
In sports the term “cookin” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.
This week’s “Chef of the Week” award goes to Maranatha (Pasadena, Calif.) shooting guard Tyler Dorsey for his 40-point outing in a win over Diamond Bar (Diamond Bar, Calif.) last week… Then he did it again the next night.
That’s right back-to-back 40-point games.
True chef-like behavior.
POSTER OF THE WEEK
This week’s Poster of the Week winner is Rainier Beach (Seattle) shooting guard Dejounte Murray for the off-the-backboard poster he created during a recent, 108-43, win over Ingraham (Seattle).
Murray was applying stifling full-court pressure and forced a turnover that his teammate scooped up at mid-court.
Murray trailed the play and his teammate threw a lob to him off the backboard; that’s when Murray skied over the Ingraham player and threw down the two-handed jam.
OH NO THEY DIDN’T!
This award is reserved for the player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.
This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is Tecumseh (Lynnville, Ind.) guard Jessica Younker for the unreal buzzer beater she knocked down in a recent, 48-38, loss to Springs Valley (French Lick, Ind.).
In the waning seconds of the first quarter, Younker took an inbounds pass near the scorer’s table and heaved a prayer with her right hand toward the goal.
You definitely have to see the video below to believe this one.
