Declan Kottmeier, of Delhi, claimed his third consecutive Midstate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship with his time of 17 minutes, 46.3 seconds, 32 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Joe DeVona, of Afton/Harpursville, at 18:18.7.
Along with the individual victory, Delhi won the team championship with a score of 34.
Delhi finished with four total runners in the top 10. Cooper Maney finished fifth with a time of 18:46.5. Teammates Hans Hilson-Schneider (19:39.2) and Alex Padovani (19:42.8) finished 7th and 9th respectively.
Afton/Harpursville finshed second with a score of 71.
Girls cross country
Deposit/Hancock’s Kelsey Young won her first MAC individual championship with a time of 21:45.5. Young, an 8th grader, was the only runner from her school to finish in the top 27.
Young finished nearly a minute ahead of second-place finisher Daphne Knapp, of Afton/Harpursville, who had a time of 22:40.7.
Delhi won the team championship with a score of 45. Gilbertsville- Mt. Upton/Morris had a score of 60, and was the only other school to finish.
