KUSA — The Denver East Angels took down the Regis Jesuit Raiders on May 9th in the 2014-15 Division I Rugby State Championship with a score of 10-5. In a thrilling match, the Angels won the game after an impressive defense on a goal line stand.

Head Coach, Bill Baer, said, “We admire how Regis Jesuit played. They are an excellent team and all the boys from Regis Jesuit and East gave 100 percent.” Both teams have respected programs in the sport.

The Angels rugby team has been a club sport for 27 years and have a roster of about 65 boys and a full volunteer coaching staff. Head Coach, Bill Baer, said, “We have a very diverse team and are fortunate to receive the support of a very active and wonderful parent group.” Baer also said, “This team is special because of their willingness to embrace hard work. Plus they have come together to form a real bond.”

“I want to thank the entire coaching staff for a great season,” said Baer, “And it was fun to work with a committed group of players.”
