DENVER – Denver South was able to win a back-and-forth battle with Heritage Tuesday night after defeating the Eagles 65-57.
Heritage entered the half leading the Rebels 27-26 and the lead never grew larger than four in the third quarter until Connor Nelson hit a buzzer-beater to give the Rebels a 48-43 lead.
The Eagles only trailed by two with two minutes remaining, after a steal and layup from Jack Peck, but that was as close as the game would get and South finished things off with a 10-4 run.
With the win, Denver South improved to 6-5 on the season and currently holds a three game winning streak. They look to extend that streak when they travel to play Mesa Ridge next on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Heritage, who fell to 8-4 on the season, will host ThunderRidge on Saturday at 7 p.m.
