When Diamond Stone committed to Maryland he knew that he would get some flack from his fellow cheeseheads. He probably just didn’t anticipate it would be so aggressive or come so soon after he picked the Terrapins.
As noted by The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg, Stone released a series of tweets congratulating his friend, Duke center Jahlil Okafor, for winning the national title while poking fun at the Badgers loss. The resulting Twitter responses were almost uniformly disturbing, often tinged with racism, and universally in poor taste. Needless to say, they didn’t say a lot for Wisconsin fans in the heat of a disappointing moment.
