The recent ice and snow in West Tennessee pushed a majority of the area district championships back toward the end of this week, instead of Monday and Tuesday.
With so many games coming up, this week’s Dirty Dozen is being released a day early to be ready for those upcoming title games.
A majority of the teams in this week’s rankings are playing for district championships or played for them on Saturday as the girls’ crown was decided in Districts 13-A, 13-AA and 15-AA.
The next nine days will be busy ones for the better teams around the area as they try to win district crowns and fight through region tournaments.
So here is the new Dirty Dozen:
1Haywood (15-AA) (27-2) – The Tomcats are back in the District 15-AA championship game against Ripley and hoping for better results than last year. Results: Beat North Side. Last week: No. 1.
2Westview (13-AA) (24-5) – The Chargers reached the District 13-AA title game with a win over Dyersburg and will face Obion County. Results: Beat Dyersburg. Last week: No. 2.
3McKenzie (13-A) (25-3) – The Rebels are on a 22-game winning streak and in the District 13-A championship game against Huntingdon. Results: Beat Big Sandy. Last week: No. 3.
4Lexington (14-AA) (21-4) – The Tigers will have a chance to win the District 14-AA championship after beating Bolivar in the semifinals. Results: Beat Bolivar. Last week: No. 4.
5South Side (14-AA) (16-8) – The Hawks beat Fayette-Ware in a thriller to reach the District 14-AA title game against Lexington. Results: Beat Fayette-Ware. Last week: No. 6.
6Middleton (15-A) (22-5) – The Tigers reached the District 15-A championship game with a win over Madison and will face TCA. Results: Beat Madison. Last week: No. 7.
7Humboldt (14-A) (19-8) – The Vikings beat Halls for the third time this season and are in the District 14-A title game against Union City. Results: Beat Halls. Last week: No. 8.
8TCA (15-A) (22-8) – The Lions are in the District 15-A championship after a Tyler Garrott 3 late won the semifinals. Results: Beat Scotts Hill, Adamsville. Last week: No. 9.
9USJ (D2-A) (21-8) – The Bruins’ season ended in the Division II-A West region quarterfinals for the second straight season. Results: Lost to Harding Academy. Last week: No. 5.
10Hardin Co. (13-AAA) (18-9) – The Tigers reached the District 13-AAA championship with a win over Brighton. Results: Beat Brighton. Last week: No. 11.
11South Gibson (13-AA) (17-9) – The Hornets fell into the District 13-AA consolation game with a loss to Obion County. Results: Lost to Obion County. Last week: No. 10.
12Huntingdon (13-A) (18-7) – The Mustangs are in the District 13-A championship against McKenzie and will host a region quarterfinal. Results: Beat Dresden. Last week: No. 12.
1Middleton (15-A) (27-0) – The Lady Tigers are still unbeaten and in the District 15-A championship game against Riverside. Results: Beat Scotts Hill. Last week: No. 1.
2Gibson Co. (14-A) (28-3) – The Lady Pioneers are into the District 14-A title game against Greenfield and will host a region quarterfinal. Results: Beat Bradford. Last week: No. 4.
3West Carroll (13-A) (28-1) – The Lady War Eagles took their first loss and finished as the District 13-A runner-up. Results: Beat Huntingdon; Lost to Dresden. Last week: No. 2.
4Greenfield (14-A) (24-5) – The Lady Yellowjackets advanced to the District 14-A championship with a win over Union City. Results: Beat Union City. Last week: No. 5.
5South Side (14-AA) (21-5) – The Lady Hawks were upset in the District 14-AA semifinals by Bolivar and will have to travel for their Region 7-AA quarterfinal. Results: Lost to Bolivar. Last week: No. 3.
6Lexington (14-AA) (18-6) – The Lady Tigers reached the District 14-AA championship with an easy win over McNairy Central. Results: Beat McNairy Central. Last week: No. 7.
7USJ (D2-A) (23-5) – The Lady Bruins fell in overtime in the Division II-A West region quarterfinals to be eliminated. Results: Lost to Lausanne. Last week: No. 6.
8Riverside (15-A) (20-7) – The Lady Panthers responded from two late-season losses and are in the District 15-A title game against Middleton. Results: Beat TCA. Last week: No. 8.
9Haywood (15-AA) (20-8) – The Lady Tomcats won the District 15-AA crown and will host a Region 8-AA quarterfinal game. Results: Beat North Side, Liberty. Last week: No. 9.
10Crockett Co. (13-AA) (24-5) – The Lady Cavaliers are the District 13-AA champions after beating Westview and will host a region quarterfinal. Results: Beat Dyersburg, Westview. Last week: No. 12.
11Dresden (13-A) (21-9) – The Lady Lions won the District 13-A crown by giving West Carroll its first loss of the season. Results: Beat Gleason, West Carroll. Last week: Not ranked.
12Camden (11-AA) (24-5) – The Lady Lions finished as runner-up in District 11-AA, but they will host a Region 6-AA quarterfinal. Results: Beat Hickman County; Lost to Creek Wood. Last week: No. 10.

Teams eligible for the Dirty Dozen rankings are those from schools within the Sun’s 13-county circulation area. Those counties are Madison, Gibson, Henderson, Chester, Hardeman, Haywood, Crockett, Weakley, Carroll, Benton, Decatur, McNairy and Hardin.
